It is mentioned in Ayurveda
text that taking the analogy of the wheel of a chariot, as the disc would move
effortlessly on applying oil to the same. Also, when a piece of leather is smeared
with oil, this makes it soft and at the same time more strong and durable. Another
example portrayed is a mud pitcher or jar which becomes slimy, shiny and as
well strong after it has been dabbed with oil; similar effect is experienced
when oil massage (abhyanga) is undertaken by an individual. There is easy and stress-free
movement of the joints of the body, the skin becomes soft and yet strong and
durable and the entire body becomes supple, unctuous as well as glowing.
