Ayurveda states that the butter that has just been
produced and is afresh, imbibes three basic tastes i.e. Sweet, Sour and
Astringent. It is cold in potency, and has the property of binding stool. Fresh
butter which is extracted from milk is believed to be advantageous and amicable
for balancing the Vata (air) and Pitta (Fire) doshas or the body humors. It is specifically
recommended in ailments like Facial Paralysis, Tuberculosis, Piles and Haemorrhoids.
Also, butter has the natural property to invigorate the gastric fire, and is
beneficial for relieving the skin and blood disorders as well as eye disease.
